Mona (Minnie Driver) is a beautiful girl who arranges her whole life for one goal: one day she wants to be a beauty queen, Miss America. His selfishness also stems from this, few of his friends can withstand his stardom for years. Her childhood friend Ruby (Joey Lauren Adams) works as a nurse and sees in Mona the compensation for her lost sansa. Mona also raises her child as her own, since the child's mother would be excluded from the competitions.
